We stumbled on Kémia one quiet afternoon near the Grands Boulevards, mostly because it looked welcoming, open light, calm energy, no drama at the door. It turned out to be one of those rare Paris finds where accessibility and good food actually coexist without compromise.

Getting in was simple, no step or awkward squeeze. Tables are spaced sensibly, and the staff were quick to notice what was needed, friendly and natural about it. The accessible toilet is well designed, though there was a chair tucked inside that really doesn’t need to be there. They offered to move it without being asked, but ideally it just wouldn’t be in the way to begin with.

The food’s excellent. The 33 € lunch menu feels almost too fair for what you get: bright Mediterranean plates cooked with precision and generosity. The pike-perch with roasted fennel and carrots was a highlight, followed by a fig, damson and blackberry cake that felt both simple and quietly confident.

Dinner is more of a sharing plate affair, two to three per person at around 10–14 € each, and from what we saw on the blackboard, all of which looked delicious.

Kémia is exactly what we hope to find more of in Paris, warm, accessible, and run by people who care about the details. The kind of restaurant where everything works as it should, and you can just relax and enjoy being there.
